(OLD) Seminar: Healing Trauma

This seminar is conducted by Sandra Sellmar from Elijah House, USA. The seminar’s goals are as follows:

  • To give an understanding of the different types of trauma, and how trauma can affect the body, soul and spirit.
  • To provide opportunity for ministry and healing
  • To equip and to minister to others through lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

Introduction:  Beauty For Ashes

Session 1:  The Many Faces Of Trauma

  • Fear based trauma, Betrayal trauma
  • Secondary trauma,  Physical trauma
  • Trauma of grief and loss
  • Emotional Trauma, Neglect Trauma
  • Generational Trauma, Trauma in land and homes

Two people can go through the very same thing but only one person is traumatized and the other remains relatively unscathed. Why?

  • Temperament, Circumstances and age
  • Resilience, Coping Skills
  • Prior History
  • How much care we experience afterwards
  • Demonic influence

Session 2:  The Devastating Effects Of Trauma

  • The suddenness and unpredictability of trauma affects our ability to trust and to rest.
  • Trauma affects our ability to see ourselves as sons and daughters of the King…We often fall back into a slave or orphan mentality, murmuring and complaining and full of unbelief.
  • The pain of unresolved trauma often tempts us to seek sinful ways of medicating, avoiding or denying the pain.
  • Affects us in relationship with one another and with God
  • Affects our ability to hear God’s voice and receive His blessings.
  • The very nature of trauma makes us vulnerable to demonic attack.
  • Unresolved trauma affects us physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Session 3:  How We Get Stuck In Trauma

Session 4:  Demonstration: Dismantling The Structures

There are many ways of ministering to trauma. In this seminar, we will focus on two.

One is the process of “dismantling the structure” which is the basic Elijah House model.  Ministering to trauma through inner healing would include recognizing and praying through (in the timing and direction of the Lord.)

  • Foundational and experiential lies believed
  • Generational issues
  • Unmet needs
  • Unhealed wounds and unresolved issues
  • Shame, Unforgiveness
  • Bitterroot Judgments and Expectancies, Inner Vows
  • Breaking spirit/soul ties
  • Individual, generational, corporate and cultural strongholds
  • Demonic infestation/oppression

All of these are involved in the process of Sanctification (bringing to death)

Then…Rebuilding a Godly structure–Transformation (bringing to life)

  • Establishing truth where lies have been
  • Accomplishing forgiveness
  • Confessing sinful responses to what has happened to us and learning to “walk in a new way”
  • Repentance and Restitution
  • Renewing the mind, Spiritual Disciplines
  • Allowing for the healing process.
  • Calling forth generational blessings

Session 5:  Praying To Release Trauma

This session is an explanation of a prayer model in which we pray over and into the individual, asking the Lord to remove any shock, trauma, fear, terror and shame; asking Him to heal, restore, and fill the individual with His peace.  This session will include step by step instruction in preparation, elements of the prayer, and practical helps in how to pray, etc.

Session 6:  Demonstration

An actual prayer demonstration, with a volunteer from the seminar receiving ministry.

Session 7:  Healing The Emptiness Within: The Trauma Of Unmet Need

Also called neglect trauma, or the lack of the “necessary good thing”. This is one of the most damaging and prevalent types of trauma, though often unrecognized because we can not readily “see” the wounds and bruises … unless we look at the heart.

Session 8:  Restoring Honour, Healing The Aftermath Of Sexual Abuse

Almost epidemic, sexual trauma causes devastation that lasts for generations. Sexual trauma is a trauma to our physical body, soul (mind will and emotions) and spirit. Often our will is traumatized, our ability to say “no” taken away, and defilement or “marking” occurs. Sexual soul ties occur, as well as soul ties that develop through manipulation, domination, control, fear, threats not to tell, etc.
